About the survey
Why we did it
In 2007, M&S, Asda, Tesco, Somerfield & Sainsbury jointly announced their intention to move over to climate-friendly refrigerants.
This sent a clear signal to the industry it was time to change.
So, in a follow-up, EIA carried out a survey to see how far the supermarkets had progressed in this shift.
How we did it
All information was provided (or not) by the supermarkets themselves in response to EIA’s questionnaire. We also looked at the information available in their Corporate Social Responsibility reports (if available.)
The data was then assessed by our panel of sustainability and refrigeration experts, leading to the scores.
